The Spitfires’ teams are well respected amongst the other university teams for their superior team ethos. This ethos is developed off-ice with regular events organized by the Social Secretaries.
The Spitfires are entering a team into the 2014 ‘London South’ Tough Mudder event in October. Tough Mudder is a gruelling 12 mile obstacle course designed by ex-special forces soldiers. This should be a great social event, but it will also be a good opportunity to demonstrate the importance of team fitness! We are a sports club after all!
This year’s annual ‘Lashionals event was a massive success. The annual event takes place after the BUIHA nationals and celebrates our year-long campaign with a legendary Spitfires night out.
The Christmas Meal
The Spitfires christmas meal is a fantastic evening, it is the only suit-mandatory social, and comprises of a three-course meal followed by a night out in Southampton city centre.
The Spitfires socials are a chance for some off-ice bonding, and these take place roughly fortnightly throughout the year. Although sometimes themed, the majority are ‘Jersey Socials’ where each player wears their match jersey on the night out.
Jersey Socials have been part of the club since it’s very beginnings…
But back to the present day, here is a selection of photographs from our most recent socials…
